Another Before & After at Three Weeks

The photo above shows my natural profile pre-braces and pre-surgery.

This photo above shows my profile three days after the surgery, on the day I checked out of the hospital.

The last two photos are of my profile today, three weeks after the surgery. I think it looks slightly different from the day I checked out of the hospital. The nose doesn't seem as perky; and the lower lip seems to have advanced a little - or rather, the upper lip isn't as swollen so the overjet seems smaller. Does that make any sense? But overall, no more concave face. :)

I think you carried off the overbite pretty well; that's what people tell me, but they don't know what they're talking about! :-) Still, it was clearly worth it. Your new profile makes you look mischevious. That's a good thing, btw.

That's the third time I turn up on your site leaving you compliments, I sound like such a stalker! Sorry. ;-)

Kristen, I'm really curious, did you have rhinoplasty as well? You may have mentioned it and I may have missed it. Mary

Mary, no, I didn't. All I had was upper and lower jaw surgery. My nose looks different, right? It's because of the upper jaw surgery. My OS cut a horizontal 6 mm slice off, and brought the upper jaw forward 1 to 2 mm. All these caused the soft tissues around my nose/upper jaw area to move so much that my nose ended up looking different. Weird, huh? I mean, the OS did tell me prior to surgery that my nose would look wider... but he didn't mention anything like this.

Kristen you look great! Your nose does look different. Isn't that something? Maybe I can get mine looking as cute after this sarpe heals. ;) I just been reading your blog and enjoying it. Would you mind if I add your link to my page? Your looking wonderful!

Hey I'm having surgery to correct my underbite in about 5 weeks. A bit nervous but your blog has been really helpful. You really are gorgeous. Good luck!

Hi Kristen,

Your blog is fantastic - well-organized and calm and real! I am writing you again because your comment on this thread about Dr. Li saying your nose would be wider was intriguing. I'm guessing that the composite photo pre-op wasn't able to show you this?

I'm concerned about how upper jaw advancement will change the look of my cheeks and nose from the front view, not just profile.

Did you find that his prediction turned out to be accurate? It's hard to tell from the photos you've posted - your hair is different and there's swelling that makes it hard to compare - but would be great to get your personal take on the nose / cheek changes.

Thanks, and hope all's well!

-Susan
